Privacy policy
Updated October 30, 2026
Ojito is made by Crafter Station, LLC. The short version: your captures stay on your devices and in your iCloud. We only handle the data needed to sell you a license.
In the app
- Screenshots, OCR text, page text and search run on your device. On your Mac they stay in
~/Library/Application Support/Ojito; on your iPhone, inside the app. We never receive them. - On iPhone, emails, card numbers and keys in a screenshot are covered on the phone before it is saved.
- To save the full text of a public page, Ojito fetches that page from your device. For X posts it uses the public FxTwitter API; for YouTube, YouTube's public endpoints. To show an icon it uses the public App Store search, with the app's name only, or the icon the site itself publishes.
iCloud sync
- With an active license, Ojito syncs your captures between your Mac and iPhone through the private iCloud database of your Apple account. Apple stores it under its privacy policy. We can't access it.
AI features (optional)
- Organize, on Mac, is off by default. If you turn it on, a redacted, resized screenshot and the start of its text are sent to an AI model through Vercel AI Gateway with zero data retention, only to pick a topic and flag private content.
- On iPhone, transcription and app recognition only work if you add your own Vercel AI Gateway key in Settings. With a key, audio from your voice notes and videos goes to ElevenLabs Scribe, and screenshots, already redacted and resized, go to a vision model that names the app they show. It all runs through your AI Gateway account, not ours, and we don't receive it. Without a key nothing is sent. You can turn each feature off in Settings.
License
- About once a week, a paid copy of the Mac app checks with ojito.dev whether its license was refunded. The request carries the license's order ID only. The iPhone app doesn't make this check.
- The app has no analytics, ads or tracking.
On ojito.dev
- Beta list: your email, kept in Resend to send your invite and license.
- Purchases: handled by Paddle as Merchant of Record. Paddle collects your payment details and billing address under its privacy policy. We receive your email and order details to issue your license.
- Analytics: Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies.
Your choices
Delete your captures any time: on Mac from Settings → Storage, on iPhone from Settings → Delete everything. To remove your email or get a copy of what we hold, write to railly@crafterstation.com. We don't sell personal data.
